Art at Home?

This Stay at Home Mom thing is coming together better than I feared it would. My latest challenge...art at home. When I was working, I depended on the preschool or my mother to provide them with the hands on art projects. I thought it was a pretty good deal, no mess no fuss. But then R, the more artistic of the two started asking (almost hourly) for art projects. Can we do playdoh, can I draw, where's some paper. Yesterday, they climbed high up in my MILs closet and dug up paints, glitter, feathers and beads. We had a good time with the stuff, and I finally decided that we needed an art bin.

Before today, I had not one crayon in this house, no kids scissors, and believe it or not, no elmers glue. I should have gone to the dollar store for supplies, but no, off to Michael's I went. I was a tad overwhelmed when strolling through the scrapbooking section, but soon found my spot. We got a bucket of playdoh (I need a recipe for my own), big box of crayons with sharpener, paint brushes, watercolors, two types of glue (who knew there were some many different types), scissors, and a variety of paper.

Before you know it, I'll be posting pictures of my kids art and maybe even saving some of it. I'll need a display wall to show off my offsprings talent. More house projects for my poor husband.

1 year later

Its been over 1 year since I've blogged. Life has gotten in the way, but now I have time again. I've quit my job and simplified my life. Now if I could only write better. I'm hoping practice makes perfect. I will write and write until I get better or something better comes along. I know someone who got a book deal from blogging, I'm positive I will never be that good.

In my new humdrum life, the boys and I must decide whether to wash the dog or go to the beach. Both of these decisions depend on warm weather, unfortunately it isn't warm outside. What is next on the chore list: Take shirts to dry cleaners, get frames from grad pictures, mail said frames to MIL (now in Oregon), clean car, and sign up for swimming classes.

3 day weekend plans were the hot topic of discussion last night, seems we don't have any, hmmm. Looks like, by default, we are going to finish up some house projects and varish the cockpit of the boat. Maybe we can fit a BBQ in.
